We welcome Scientific papers on topics related to the Association of Caribbean Occupational Therapy 2021 Conference theme of:
Opening Doors To Inclusion Across The Lifespan
Papers on this theme are welcome for consideration as oral or poster presentations. All abstracts must be submitted electronically via email to: acotconference@gmail.com by June 30 2021. Poster presentations accepted by June 30 2021.
Authors may select presentation formats when submitting an abstract, including:
- Poster presentation
- Oral presentation
Oral presentations will be pre-recorded. A live question and answer period will be held afterwards where possible.
Accepted posters will be displayed online, which will require the author to provide a PowerPoint slide of the poster. A live question and answer period will be held afterwards where possible.

Important Dates:
General submission information
- An individual may be the first author on more than one abstract and may submit more than one abstract.
- Authors must complete the entire abstract for consideration.
- The official conference language is English; therefore, abstracts need to be written in English.
- All completed and submitted abstracts will be reviewed by the Association of Caribbean Occupational Therapists abstract review committee using a “blind” selection process.

- All information for first and all co-authors must be included in the submission.
- Only abstracts completed by the posted deadline will be reviewed
- Acceptance letters will be sent via e-mail. Relevant information about your abstract’s presentation including the presentation date, time, presentation number will be included in the acceptance letters.
- The presenting author of the abstract must be registered for the Conference.
- Accepted abstracts will be made available to all registered participants
- All submitted abstracts are considered to be confidential. To maintain confidentiality, only members of the Association of Caribbean Occupational Therapists abstract review Committee will be permitted access to the abstracts.
Oral presentations provide an opportunity to report on original research, innovative programmes and professional practices, theoretical and conceptual advances, and professional issues relating to the conference theme. The programme will include two main types of oral presentations:
Long – 45 minutes (35 minutes to present + 10 minutes for Q & A)
Short – 25 minutes (20 minutes to present + 5 minute for Q & A)
Posters are comprised of up to three slides. Posters will be made available online, and delegates will be able to browse posters (by title, speaker name, etc.)
Abstract guidelines
Abstracts must be organized in the following format:

Authors will include:
- Limit abstract narrative to 300 words
- Omit any table or illustration from abstract
- After the submission is completed, the sender will receive a confirmation email to the address indicated at submission.
Author guidelines
As first author, you will:
- be the main contact person for the abstract,
- assure all information for co-authors is submitted
- assure co-authors are informed of all communications
- ensure accuracy of content, spelling and author information, including listing order since abstracts are directly exported from the submission database for publication.
